Well, it was a long time coming and we did it. The Lil Jimmy Khaos Tour 2022 was a massive success. We had such a good time its hard to really put it into words, but I'll give it a go.
We picked up the van from the excellent Vans For Bands and went back to the studio to load out. Once all the gear was checked we all went home to spend some time with our families before the off.
We had booked a travel day as the first day and after failing to work out how to use the telly (Craig wouldn't let us put it on anyway) it was up to Jay to provide the tunes for the first leg of the journey. We got down to Folkstone in good time and set about filming the first episode of Geography with Joe. If you have seen some of these masterpieces on our socials, you'll understand what I am on about. I think we rehearsed these more than we did the set. Joe put a load of effort in on these and they were hilarious to make, so check them out if you can!
We got to the hotel in Dunkirk and checked in. It was a brilliant place and we had a good mooch round and a few beers and some nice food.
After a night of some biblical snoring and a nice breakfast it was time to head off to the awesome AK47 in Dusseldorf. We got to the venue and loaded in. The promotor Thom really looked after us and when it came to stage time we were raring to go. The crowd where fantastic and tore the place apart. There was broken noses, broken bottles and an insane pit. There was even a juggler.
We cannot thank the crew at AK47 enough for such a blinding night. Its one of the best Punk venues around and we cant wait to get back there next year.
Saturday saw us returning to Meisenfrei in Bremen. We LOVE playing here and it was our third show at this fantastic venue. Our mates Nebenwirkung really put on a fantastic gig and it was our second as headliner. The stage and sound are incredible there and we went for it. The merch box was ransacked again for the second night in a row and we had a wicked show. Die Panzerknakker opened the show and were ace as well - 'support your local punk rock pub!'
The next day was a short drive over to the Netherlands to hook up with our mates Noise in the North Bookings and play at a venue called the pit. We got into town a little early so went for some food and a couple of beers by the canal. Groningen is a proper cool place, and Jay was in his element. If you know Jay, you'll understand haha!
We loaded into the venue that had been hand built by a Brummie traveller called Steven who had just recently passed away. The venue was in the woods and was surrounded by a fantastic community who really looked after us. We were on first this time so we set up and I think was the best gig of the tour. We were on fecking fire to be honest and we left everything we had on the stage. I was pretty much dead by the time we finished but I think we made a load of new friends. Again the merch got pillaged and we had a right laugh. Dead Elvis were next and they were cool and then headliners Cadibode from Brazil blew the fecking place apart. They were simply incredible and really nice lads to boot. They are still on the road around Europe at the minute so I think you should buy all their music right now. They were ace.
Once the shenanigans had all finished, we said our goodbyes and buggered off to Calais through the night and then home.
We were really looking forward to this tour, but everything that went down totally exceeded our expectations. We cannot wait to go back next year with some more dates in a few other countries as well. Everyone we met was a total hero and looked after us so so well. Our faces hurt from laughing and there was some outrageous shit all the way through. Bands - go on tour. Its the best.
Final and most important thanks goes to Tat for driving us about the place, keeping us sane and ripping the living piss out of everything and everyone. It was a truly epic drive on the way home and I think he was 80% red bull by the time we got back. Thanks mate, legend.
We've got a few more gigs left for 2022 so check out the tour tab and come and see!
